John Dikeman & Onno Govaert |
Jazz Concert:
JOHN DIKEMAN/ONNO GOVAERT
Fri., Oct. 21. 2016, 8:30 pm
Admission: $10
Based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, American saxophone
player John Dikeman and Dutch drummer Onno Govaert are touring the United
States as a duo rather than with their trio, Cactus Truck, which also includes
bass player/guitarist Jasper Stadhouders. The Dikeman/Govaert part of the
fire-breathing, improvisational Cactus Truck ensemble will be joined on this
tour by numerous guest musicians.
Dikeman/Govaert play a take-no-prisoners, high-energy brand of free jazz strongly influenced by the likes of Albert Ayler and Peter Brötzmann at their most intense. They also point out that their music includes elements of Delta blues, Japanese noise, and no wave.
